Appeal your Real Estate Assessment

You have the right to petition for review of your current property assessment. If you appealed your assessment during this year of 2011 you learned that sales that took place after January 1, 2011 were not considered.

Since the market downturn in the real estate industry, units are down considerably as well as deflation in prices, you may want to consider petitioning for review of your real property assessment based on the sales of this past year.

What is generally not known is the deadline for filing a petition for this review is the first working day after January 1, 2012.
